Meeting Notes

KTN Meeting Notes: April 23, 2026
The April 23 Know Thy Neighbor meeting was a passionate and productive discussion about how to better serve seniors in Hartford. The group wrestled with whether to begin with a survey, focus groups, or a senior resource fair/summit. A strong theme emerged: seniors should not simply be studied or served from a distance; they should be listened to, engaged personally, and invited to help shape the work. The group agreed to continue developing possible strategies including refining the survey questions, review existing research, explore focus groups, begin planning a resource fair/open house event, and continue developing a thoughtful, manageable strategy that honors seniors and responds to their real needs. Working within current capacity will be essential - if we try to do too much, we’ll accomplish nothing.

KTN Meeting Notes: April 9, 2026
The KTN meeting on April 9, 2026, focussed on planning an open house event about services to seniors. We want to build a community-driven event that begins with listening (survey), centers lived experience (storytelling & panels), connects resources (service providers & tables), builds relationships (partnerships), and creates long-term impact (sustainability). The core message for the event is “We are not just serving seniors—we are restoring their voice, honoring their value, and reconnecting them to the heart of the community.”

KTN Meeting Notes: March 19, 2026
The meeting on March 19 was a strong brainstorming and planning meeting focused on how Know Thy Neighbor can respond to senior concerns in a practical, collaborative way. The group identified two main directions:
1. A senior-focused open house/resource forum
2. A survey or listening process to hear directly from seniors
The conversation highlighted the need to stay focused, work within available capacity, build strong partnerships, and make sure seniors themselves help shape the work.
